At the University of Colorado, his commitment to nurturing a culture of excellence, integrity, and diversity was instrumental in leading the team to its first Sweet 16 appearance in two decades. Additionally, his unwavering dedication to player development has resulted in 52 All-Conference players, with 17 progressing to professional contracts, demonstrating his exceptional talent for enhancing player capabilities.

After coaching alongside him for five years, Crista pursued a medical career, eventually becoming an orthopedic PA. In August 2023, he made a significant family commitment by pausing his Division 1 coaching career to care for two terminally ill family members. The forthcoming 22nd wedding anniversary with Crista on June 1, 2024, is a poignant reminder of their deep-rooted love and shared fortitude.

His real estate journey began with converting an old carriage house in Florida into two Airbnb rentals.
